Fractional Laser Resurfacing
Until now, the only options available for laser treatments were ablative and non-ablative. Oh how times have changed!
For years, if you wanted to improve wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, or overall skin texture with a laser, you had to choose between two extremes.
On one end was traditional CO2 laser resurfacing: incredible results, but a long recovery and significant downtime. On the other end were non-ablative fractional lasers: much more gentle, but they often required multiple treatments to achieve more modest improvements.
Think of our Erbium fractional laser as the happy medium. If traditional fractional resurfacing and CO2 had a baby, this would be it.
It combines the precision and safety of fractional technology with the powerful resurfacing benefits of an ablative laser. Instead of treating the entire surface of the skin, it creates thousands of tiny treatment columns surrounded by healthy skin. Those untouched areas help your skin heal more quickly while the treated areas stimulate fresh collagen, elastin, smoother texture, and healthier looking skin.
Even better, Erbium technology produces less excess heat than traditional CO2 lasers. That means you can enjoy dramatic improvements in fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation, enlarged pores, and acne scars with a recovery that is often faster and more comfortable than traditional CO2 resurfacing.
In other words, it's powerful enough to produce real change, yet gentle enough that many people find it strikes the perfect balance between results and downtime.

FAQS
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
One of the things patients love most about our Erbium fractional laser is that many people are thrilled with just one treatment. If you're looking for a more dramatic improvement, especially for deeper wrinkles, acne scars, or significant sun damage, a series of 2-3 treatments may be recommended. During your consultation, we'll discuss your goals and create a treatment plan that's right for you.
Before your treatment, we'll apply a powerful medical-grade numbing cream for about 45 minutes to keep you as comfortable as possible. Once you're numb, the laser treatment itself typically takes about 45-60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
Immediately afterward, your skin will feel similar to a moderate sunburn for a few hours. Redness and swelling are expected and are actually signs that your skin is beginning its natural healing process. Swelling is usually most noticeable the morning after treatment and begins improving over the next couple of days.
Over the next several days, your skin will develop a rough, "sandpaper-like" texture before naturally flaking away to reveal fresh, healthier-looking skin underneath. Most patients experience about 5-7 days of healing on the face, while the neck may take a few extra days. Every person heals a little differently, and your recovery will depend on the treatment depth and your individual skin.
While you'll notice improvements once your skin has healed, the real magic continues beneath the surface. Your body will keep producing new collagen and elastin for the next 3-6 months, so your skin continues to become smoother, firmer, and healthier long after your appointment.
During healing, protecting your investment is essential. You'll need to wear a mineral SPF 50 or higher every day and avoid unnecessary sun exposure while your skin is recovering. (Truthfully, we recommend daily sunscreen for everyone, every day, rain or shine!)
